Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe (PLZ), in collaboration with other Chinese enterprises, is leading community development initiatives in Goromonzi District, Mashonaland East Province, to improve residents’ livelihoods. The Goromonzi Community Development Project (GCDP) aligns with Zimbabwe’s sustainable development goals and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, aiming to achieve upper-middle-income status by 2030.
According to the 2022 census, Goromonzi District, with a population of over 386,000, is rich in natural resources such as water, land, forests, and key minerals. PLZ General Manager Zhu Haijun emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing to the local economy and society. The GCDP focuses on four key areas: health enhancement, vocational education for youth, women’s empowerment, and energy equity.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland East Province, Apollonia Munzverengwi, highlighted that these initiatives will create jobs, stimulate local economies, and improve the overall livelihood of the district’s residents.
